On-Demand Webinar: Machining of Castings - 3D Tolerance Analysis with Variation Analysis

Early episodes in this webinar series introduced participants to the basics of 3D Tolerance Analysis with Variation Analysis (VSA) software. Episode 3 began our exploration of the more sophisticated, advanced features of VSA. Episode 4 continues that exploration.

We will begin this episode by reviewing and re-emphasizing a few major points of from episodes 1-3.

Next, we’ll examine VSA models to see how the software can assist with Single Part Analysis.

The complex tolerancing schemes of machined parts almost demand digital simulation prior to the build phase – trying to determine individual adjustments manually or after production has begun would be nothing short of a nightmare. We will see how VSA software handles such adjustments with ease.

We will learn about the processing and fixturing of castings, and semi-finished parts using VSA to establish CNC feature sequencing. Doing so helps to determine if the final machined parts meet part print tolerances.

Next, we’ll see how VSA enables you to determine objectively which part features should become "Key Quality Characteristics" – those features critical to the customers’ perception of the product that might need monitoring to ensure quality.

Once we learn about the advanced features, it will be time for a demonstration of the software at work.

Finally, and as always, we’ll develop an understanding of the business value of VSA software by examining a case study. In this episode the study will illustrate the cost savings VSA can produce in the machining of an engine block, including warranty work.

Conducting tolerance analyses of parts in digital 3D is not only smart; it also saves time, money, and wasted effort. Please join us for a deeper understanding – and appreciation – of VSA software.
