NX Turbomachinery Milling
Streamline the NC Programming Process for Blisk and Impeller Machining
For aero-engines, turbo-machinery, and power generation equipment, NX Turbomachinery Milling simplifies the NC programming of complex 5-axis blisks and impellers.
Advanced operations specifically designed to produce smart toolpaths for blisks and impellers deliver added bonuses: faster machining times, better surface finish and longer tool life.
Simultaneous 5-Axis Roughing
Use the highly flexible roughing in NX to specify parameters such as:
- Tool take-off
- Cut level offsets
- Depth-of-cut limits
- Drive pattern
- Step-over
- Number of passes between blades
- Tool axis
- Smoothing options
- Path extension treatments for leading and trailing edges
Rest Milling
NX CAM works to minimize wasted air cutting time by automating the removal of remaining material from previous operations and optimizes tool engagement with the part.
Hub Finishing
Specially optimized tool paths finish impeller and blisk hubs by enabling precise control of side step-over, cut pattern, path extension, and tool path smoothing.
Blade Finishing
NX Turbomachinery Milling both finishes the main blades by specifying which sides of the blade to cut (section, pressure or both) and stabilizes path pattern and tool axis parameters for leading and trailing edges.
Splitter Finishing
NX automates NC programming for blisks and impellers with up to six “splitters” – the smaller blades between the main blades on some impellers.
Blend Finishing
A specific operation that understands the clearance requirements finishes blends – the spots where blades join hubs. Even without having the modeled surfaces, blends can be also processed using reference radii.
Work Directly on Imported CAD Data
Work effectively with any CAD data regardless of its originating system with NX Turbomachinery Milling. Blades can consist of one or many surfaces.
